It uses the Duplex Multi Environment Real Time operating system which was renamed UNIX-RTR in 1982. The Data Manipulation Unit provided arithmetic and logic operations on 32 bit words using AMD 2901 bipolar 4-bit processor elements. The first 3B20D was called the Model 1. Each processor’s control unit consisted of 2 frames of circuit packs. The whole duplex system required many seven foot frames of circuit packs plus at least one tape drive frame, and many washing machine sized disk drives. Current publications show that Human Behavior Representation (HBR) in agent simulations remains a top priority for the modeling and simulation community. Agents are a promising way to represent human behavior. However, there are limited methods for measuring and validating perception within simulated environments. Within a simulated environment, there are no clearly established methods for understanding surrogate HBR perception relationships with their authentic human behavioral representations. These present obstacles for advancing simulation of human behavior. Adolescent empires: Identity, liminality, and advocacy in contemporary American literature. $108 The dissertation analyzes the intersections between the discourse of adolescence and the discourse of Empire. The adolescent is a major, if not the central, figure in the rhetoric of Empire, specifically as a site of adult anxiety and imperial contestation. Chapter 1 revisits Homi Bhabha’s reading of Toni Morrison’s Beloved in The Location of Culture and filters his examination of the unhomely through the lens of adolescence. It moves on to consider adolescent unhomeliness in Jamaica Kincaid’s Lucy and Bharati Mukherjee’s Jasmine. In these texts, the postcolonial feeling of unhomeliness joins with the adolescent character’s growing unease in her domestic surroundings. The fully-automated system operates on long, monocular image sequences containing multiple, independently-moving objects, and demonstrates the practical feasibility of recovering scene structure and motion in a bottom-up fashion. Real and synthetic examples are given throughout, with particular emphasis on image coding applications. Novel theory is derived in the context of the affine camera, a generalisation of the familiar scaled orthographic model. Analysis proceeds by tracking ‘corner features’ through successive frames and grouping the resulting trajectories into rigid objects using new clustering and outlier rejection techniques. The three-dimensional motion parameters are then computed via ‘affine epipolar geometry’, and ‘affine structure’ is used to generate alternative views of the object and fill in partial views. The use of all available features (over multiple frames) and the incorporation of statistical noise properties substantially improves existing algorithms, giving greater reliability and reduced noise sensitivity. |

Automated three-dimensional object modeling from aerial video imagery. $49.99 Research in physically accurate 3D modeling of a scene is gaining momentum because of its far reaching applications in civilian and defense sectors. The modeled 3D scene must conform both geometrically and spectrally to the real world for all the applications. Geometric modeling of a scene can be achieved in many ways of which the two most popular methods are – (a) using multiple 2D passive images of the scene also called as stereo vision and (b) using 3D point clouds like Lidar (Light detection and ranging) data. In this research work, we derive the 3D models of objects in a scene using passive aerial video imagery. At present, this geometric modeling requires a lot of manual intervention due to a variety of factors like sensor noise, low contrast conditions during image capture, etc. Hence long time periods, in the order of weeks and months, are required to model even a small scene. This thesis focuses on automating the process of geometric modeling of objects in a scene from passive aerial video imagery. The aerial video frames are stitched into stereo mosaics. These stereo mosaics not only provide the elevation information of a scene but also act as good 3D visualization tools. The 3D information obtained from the stereo mosaics is used to identify the various 3D objects, especially man-made buildings using probabilistic inference provided by Bayesian Networks. The initial 3D building models are further optimized by projecting them on to the individual video frames. The limitations of the state-of-art technology in attaining these goals are presented along with the techniques to overcome them. The improvement that can be achieved in the accuracy of the 3D models when Lidar data is fused with aerial video during the object identification process is also examined. |

Stebbins frames occupational devotion in four broad social contexts–history, religion, work, and leisure–then considers the further subdivisions of gender, social class, and social character. The heart of the book uses research findings on leisure to develop a powerful critique of the “workaholic” model. Stebbins shows instead that deeply felt worker enthusiasm is devoid of addictive or coerced behavior. Stebbins also explores the role of money. How important is it? What happens when money becomes a major if not dominant value, as has happened, for example, in the realm of professional sports? Finally, he examines the social implications of the compatibility of work and serious leisure, using exploratory research to identify their shared motivational factors.
